Monomorphs, Bimorphs, and Multimorphs from Polar Polymer Electrets

چکیده
Mono-, bi-, and multimorphs are poled electrets with +/0, +/-, and more complicated alternatingpolarity dipole-orientation patterns, respectively. Because of their unusual macroscopic piezoand pyroelectrical as well as nonlinear optical properties, such structures are of particular interest for special transducer and optical waveguide applications. In this contribution, the preparation of such dipole-polarization patterns in ferroelectric and amorphous polymer electrets and their nondestructive probing by means of thermal and acoustical techniques are reviewed.

Charge-induced local dewetting on polymer electrets studied by atomic force microscopy.
Polymer electrets are one of the most important series of electrets, which are widely used both in academic research and industrial applications. The effect of trapped charges on dielectric properties of the polymer electret is critical for more intelligent utilization of these materials. Herein we report the charge-induced polymer relaxation reflected by the local dewetting of the polymer elec...

This paper describes the realization process of small-size electrets by using techniques generally applied in the fabrication of integrated circuits and microsensors. In the first part of the paper, attention is paid to the different electret decay mechanisms and their relative contribution to the overall stability of miniaturized electrets. Then, a process is described by which polymer electre...
